Brandon Vera vs. Jon “Bones” Jones starts at 9:00 pm EST tonight on Versus channel.

The event is being held at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Looks like a pretty good card for the 1st UFC event on Versus channel. Here are the fights that will most likely be televised:

Bandon Vera vs Jon Jones

Junior Dos Santos vs Gabriel Gonzaga

Cheick Kongo vs Paul Buentello

Alessio Sakara vs James Irvin

I hope they get some of the others on there as well. Clay Guida vs Shannon Gugerty should be a good one, as well as Eliot Marshall vs Vladimir Matuyshenko. It is only scheduled for 2 hours, so it will depend on the length of the main card.

Muay Thai Defeated By Shoalin Monks!

Well… not really!

I found this story posted on the Underground Forum.

The Shaolin Temple refused to accept a challenge by 5 professional Muay Thai fighters. The Thai fighters said they wanted to “wipe out the Shaolin Temple”. Stating that Shaolin kung fu was a “lie” and that compared to an art like Muay Thai kickboxing, it didn’t stand a chance.

Enter the Emei Martial Arts Association.

Accepting the challenge of the Thai fighters, the Emei Martial Arts Association brought its fighters forward to step into the ring. Viewing this challenge as an insult to Chinese martial arts and also to China as a nation, they felt this challenge had to be met.

The event happened on December 19th, 2009. It was held at the Foshan Lingnan Pearl Gymnasium in Guangdong, China.

The results? Chinese Kung Fu beat Muay Thai 4-1 to win the competition.
