FEAR !!! If you never have to face fear in a physical conflict/fight this post is not of any value to you,  But if your not one of those who nothing can scare, Maybe this can help, First,  Fear can put you at a major disadvantage by causing your mind to freeze on your fear whether it is justified or not, One method I find to break the grip of fear is immediately on feeling a reaction to the situation is to say "Thank You" It can be out loud or just to my self, What I'm telling my mind to think is, "Thank you for allowing me to use your attack to allow me to have fun", If you have ever watched the dog whisperer you'll see him snap a dog out of whatever negative mode with just a touch, Refocusing its mind, That's what were doing to ourself,  Fear can cause is to be unable to do anything to protect yourself as were so focused on the fear that there is no room in our mind to react, Helio Gracie once said that BJJ enables one to see and react to a BIGG man just as you would to a small child, With no fear and lots of confidence, Now if your faced with Tim Silvia you should be SCARED, But fear won't help you win, Or survive, Only by staying calm and focused do you have the ability to do what you are capable of.
